Executive Coaching · Communicate Under Pressure

Communicate Under Pressure.

For leaders who want to find the right words, communicate clearly and manage spontaneous moments better.

The problem

Why do you freeze, go blank, and lose the words?

Communicating is getting harder. Future-ready leaders know they need the right human skills and communication that connects to be promoted, respected, and get work done. Stakeholder tensions can be addressed if you know what’s in the way.

I help leaders address the stress reactions that get in the way of communicating and performing under pressure. It’s not your preparation or your communication skills. Under pressure, your automatic stress response impacts how you think and speak, before you know it’s happening.

After a critical communication, have you ever felt “That wasn’t me”? Then this is for you.

The Performance Under Pressure Approach

Reset. Connect. Communicate. Perform.

Most communication training starts at Communicate: the words and delivery. This is the Performance Under Pressure approach: it starts one step earlier, at Reset, what happens in your system under pressure before you speak. What Radical Candor, Crucial Conversations, and Nonviolent Communication miss: your state before words.

Reset

From worried to ready.

Your state and presence before the exchange begins. Rooted in somatic coaching and nervous system science.

Connect

Reading the room.

Authentic relating: reading and resonating with the humans in the room. A method developed over 15 years.

Communicate

Clear, concise, without shrinking.

The right words come easier because you’ve reset and connected. Science backed.

Perform

Practice, apply, see results.

A shift that holds in any room, not just the session.

Why Catherine. 20+ years as an executive partner: a communications and leadership development professional, leading and guiding transformation and change. Before that, live TV news anchor, media spokesperson, and crisis communicator. ICF PCC, 5,000+ coaching hours. Zug, in person and online.

Six skills. Any room.

Authentic relating

Genuine connection, not performed rapport. The human skills the other person feels, coming from a grounded presence no AI can offer.

Stress awareness

Know your personal stress pattern. Apply it to prepare physically so your words and skills appear when it counts.

Self-management in the moment

Tools you use in any room that others don't notice. Beyond breathwork: tools for the actual conversation.

Voice and presence

Your voice is connected to your stress pattern. A proprietary framework from experience, so your vocal tone leads.

Navigating difficult conversations

Clarity under pressure

Concise and confident in spontaneous moments. How to regroup when challenged, interrupted, or in live Q&A.

Common questions

Your questions, answered.

How is this different from other communication coaching?

It starts one layer earlier. Most communication coaching teaches frameworks, words, and delivery, but under pressure you cannot pull them up. This program first addresses the automatic stress response that narrows your thinking and language, so the skills land when it counts.

Can coaching actually help me communicate under pressure?

Yes. Freezing or going blank under pressure is a stress response, not a skills gap. Trained directly, your nervous system stops hijacking your words and your clarity holds in the moments that matter. The approach comes from a former TV anchor and crisis communicator who has performed live under pressure.

How is this different from Executive Presence coaching?

Executive Presence coaching is for a sustained pattern across all rooms over time. Communicate Under Pressure is for a specific situation or stakeholder in front of you now: a presentation, a difficult conversation, a recurring challenge, or a communication problem you want to solve quickly.

What situations does this cover?

One-on-ones, presentations, live Q&A, conflict, feedback conversations, stakeholder management, and virtual communication. Any moment where you know what you want to say but lose it under pressure.
