The problem

No more feedback sessions or endless talking.

Communications is harder. And no one has time for it. Instead, what teams actually bring into the room is emotions, tension, different perspectives, uncertainty and exhaustion. Threats at work are happening both inside and outside the team.

How do you have effective team communications especially when pressure is in the room? We address not only the shared dynamics that impact positive and negative environment for communications, but get clear on team norms and preferences, all rooted in performance science.

The Performance Under Pressure Approach

Reset. Connect. Communicate. Perform.

Most communication training starts at Communicate: the words and delivery. The Performance Under Pressure approach starts two steps earlier, at Reset, what happens in the team’s nervous system under pressure before anyone speaks. Connect is attuning to each other, a difference the team feels. What Radical Candor, Crucial Conversations, and Nonviolent Communication miss: the team’s state and presence before its words.

Reset

From reactive to ready.

The team’s collective state before the exchange begins. Recognizing the team’s stress patterns under pressure, and each person’s own, rooted in nervous system science.

Connect

Reading each other in the room.

Attuning to teammates, not performing rapport: the human skills that rebuild trust after conflict, discomfort, or change.

Communicate

Clear, without shrinking, as a team.

The right words come easier once the team has reset and connected. Shared language replaces reactive habits.

Perform

Practice, apply, see results together.

A shift that holds in the next hard meeting, not just the workshop.

FAQ

Common questions.

How does this relate to Communicate Under Pressure?

Communicate Under Pressure is for one leader’s own high-stakes conversations. Team Communications applies the same foundation to a whole team: shared language, shared accountability, team cohesion.

Do you work with the team leader separately?

Yes. I work with the leader to understand their own team dynamics, and with the team through workshops and coaching to strengthen skills for effectiveness and performance.

Can we start small?

Yes. Some teams start with a half-day workshop and later engage me for leadership development trainings or transformation support.
